Community Service

Z-HOPE Zetas Helping Other People Excel, is an international initiative of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., to which Iota Chi Zeta Chapter's community service programs align. Below are a few of our programs.  

  • Adopt A School: ​The Zeta Adopt-A-School program is a school and community partnership initiative that aims to improve student achievement, attendance, and provide role models. Choptank Elementary School (Cambridge, MD) and Greenwood Elementary School (Princess Anne) is a partner of the Iota Chi Zeta Chapter.

  • Adopt A Highway: provides cleaner & safer highways. Iota Chi Zeta chapter is a 20 year partnership with Maryland Department of Transportation. 

  • ​Cold Weather Shelter:  Iota Chi Zeta Chapter provides breakfast and dinner to families from on the 2nd Saturday each month from December-April. 

  • March of Dimes/Prematurity Awareness: ​ Since 1972, Zeta has collaborated with the March of Dimes to raise funds for March for Babies and the Stork's Nest Program, as well as to conduct prematurity awareness activities in houses of workshop and congregation. 

  • Social Action/ Get Engaged: Zetas Social Action/Get Engaged initiative is designed to address the underlying issues in our communities such as voter suppression, police reform, educational reform, etc. We currently partnership with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Omicron Xi Sigma to host educational sessions and voter registration opportunities. 

  • Stork's Nest: A cooperative project of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and March of Dimes Foundations, for more than forty years, Stork's Nest aims to increase the number of women receiving early and regular prenatal care in an effort to present cases of low birth-weight, premature births and infants deaths. Iota Chi Zeta Chapter currently partners with the Dorchester Health Department and is a 501(c)3 Non-profit organization.
